Not feeling as 'slick' when running and walking. Metal melee weapons not expiring or having a much longer life than wooden ones (a pipe can be straigntened, sharpened FAR longer than a wooden piece). I found the past 2 fun for a couple of hours, then it quickly fell flat. A lot of the downsides of the game can be fixed with mods too if you're on PC. Still, Riptide is a better game from a gameplay mechanics standpoint, and the new player character (John) is pretty fun. Grunt zombies can one-shot you with thrown weapons (due to a bug) No 'idyllic beach resort/rotting hordes of the undead' juxtaposition like the first one Boats are mediocre unless you get good at using the turbo to smash zombies Nerfing of some weapon mods, particularly Impact ones Only two big areas, compared to three in the first game Way more side quests, including ones which improve the equipment of your teammates Named bosses and special high difficulty areas (Dead Zones) More merchants who sell a better variety of gear Added abilities for every character, including Group Fury, which is underrated but awesome Blueprints are distributed more evenly and 'in order', i.e you don't come across the 4x poison craft two missions before the 2x poison craft

Less annoying human enemies who are immune to most of your skills Guns are also more accessible from the beginning of the game (so Purna isn't screwed) Guns deal 3-4x damage on headshot, making them viable against zombies Health and consumables no longer take up weapon slots (so you won't accidentally replace your main weapon with Alcohol) Riptide actually has some serious improvements compared to the first:
